Biography

My name is Mansur Halai and I have recently started my position as a Surgeon-Investigator at St Michael’s Hospital, affiliated to the University of Toronto.

From my birthplace in Scotland, I attained my Physiology BSc at the University of London, before completing my Medical Degree in Glasgow. My residency included 4 years of Critical Care, with additional visitations to Malawi and South Africa, fueling my interest in Foot/Ankle deformity and Trauma. My Canadian affair started with a year at the University of Toronto Foot and Ankle Fellowship in 2017, followed by the Calgary Trauma Fellowship, finishing in 2019.

My research interests include gait analysis and database collaboration. I have extensive experience utilising telemedicine, which we have been using in Glasgow for 10 years in the form of ‘virtual clinics’. Surgically, I will cover the spectrum of foot and ankle deformity correction, ortho-plastic trauma/Charcot reconstruction and minimally invasive surgery.

I have returned to The Beaches where my wife and two sons feel at home in this vibrant city. Outside work, you will find me honing my soccer skills or cycling up the boardwalk. I am sincerely honoured to be working alongside you all, serving the people of Ontario.
