2022 COSMEC Orthopaedic Skills Day & Course Conclusion

The first iteration of the Canadian Orthopaedic Surgery Medical Education Course (COSMEC) successfully concluded on May 10, 2022.

COSMEC was an overwhelming success – there were over 480 registered attendees in total, and 130 medical students who received a certificate of successful completion. A total of 23 faculty members helped to carry out six live, virtual teaching sessions, an Orthopaedic Skills Day, and a medical student information night. Participants primarily consisted of Canadian medical students; additionally there were students from over 17 countries and 81 institutions represented amongst all attendees.

The COSMEC Orthopaedic Skills Day was held on April 26, 2022 and hosted 40 medical students from the University of Toronto. Participants had the opportunity to engage with and learn key orthopaedic skills, including casting, suturing, knee arthroscopy and fracture fixation on sawbones.
