Biography

Areas of Specialty and Research Interests

Dr. Hardisty’s research interests are in spine surgery, biomechanics, and computer vision. He obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. He has a breadth of experience, studying fundamental aspects of spine biomechanics, experimenting with cutting edge methods in computer vision, and developing medical technology in translational research projects.

His current research is translational and interdisciplinary with a focus on the spine and the use of artificial intelligence in surgery. Active projects involve understanding damage and stability in bone using computational modelling and artificial intelligence, surgical simulation using virtual reality, developing smart technology focused on spine treatment planning, surgical navigation, and understanding bone and collagenous tissue mechanics.
