Ford Requesting Ban for International Students – International Fellows Starting 2021-2022
Premier Ford has requested a ban on international students travelling to Ontario and Prime Minister Trudeau is evaluating his request.
I have consulted with Dr. Glen Bandiera who is the vice Dean of PGME.
He has requested that the postgraduate trainees be classified as an essential worker, and furthermore, the fellows have come to Canada with a work visa rather than a student visa.
Dr. Bandiera has provided every international fellow with a letter from the University with his cell number in case the fellows have any issues entering Canada. He does not believe that this will be a problem.
Please reach out to your international fellows and assure them that they are classified as essential workers, and they are entering Canada on a work visa. The University of Toronto supports that they start their fellowship on time.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
