Gallie Day 2024
Dear Colleagues,
You may be aware that Gallie Day, the Department of Surgery’s annual celebration of academic excellence, was held this past Friday May 3.
This was a fantastic event, focussing this year on global surgery and UofT’s significant contributions in this regard. The highlight of the day was the inspirational Gordon Murray Lecture delivered by Dr. John Meara from Harvard University.
You may NOT be aware of the incredible success our Division had at the evening awards ceremony. Please join me in congratulating the following members of our Division:
- Dr. Hans Kreder – Bryce Taylor Mentorship Award
- Dr. Amit Atrey – Bruce Tovee Undergraduate Teaching Award
- Dr. Amir Khoshbin – Bernard Langer Surgeon-Scientist Award
- Dr. Mark Camp – Surgical Foundations Teaching Award
In addition, Dr. Johnathan Lex received the 3rd place award in the Gallie-Bateman competition for SSTP trainees.
I am so proud of the contributions of our Division to the academic mission of the Department of Surgery. Please join me in congratulating all these individuals for their well-deserved recognitions!
Best regards,
