Welcome to Dr. Michael Zywiel
Dear Colleagues,
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Michael Zywiel as the newest member of our faculty at Toronto Western Hospital.
After finishing his medical education at the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland, Michael completed a clinical research fellowship in Baltimore, Maryland under the mentorship of Michael A. Mont. He then returned to his hometown of Toronto and joined the UofT orthopaedic residency program. While a resident, he participated in the Surgeon Scientist Program and completed his Masters of Science degree in Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.
After finishing his residency in 2016, Michael went south to Austin, Texas, where he was the inaugural Joseph Miles Abell Jr. Fellow in Arthroplasty and Value-Based Health Care Delivery at the Dell Medical School. He then returned to Toronto and recently completed a six-month fellowship in Lower Extremity Reconstruction and Trauma at St Michael’s Hospital.
Michael joins the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network as Assistant Professor and Surgeon Investigator, with clinical interest in hip and knee pain, surgical interest in hip and knee replacement, and academic interests in health services, outcomes, and health care economics research.
