Wellness Resources for Faculty

Dear Colleagues,
As we continue to progress through the second wave of COVID, it has become increasingly apparent that the events of the past 9 months have been taking an extraordinary toll on not only our learners, but also on us as faculty members.

We all lead incredibly stressful lives, and the normal effects of our jobs on our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing are further being compounded by the uncertainty and essential restrictions imposed by the pandemic. Although there is a light at the end of the tunnel with the impending vaccine distribution, it will undoubtedly be quite some time before things return to normal. And of course, “normal” for us is still a high baseline level of anxiety, stress, burnout, fatigue and depression.

I am writing to let you know that there are many resources available to help should you find yourself in this difficult position. The Temerty Faculty of Medicine website has an entire section dedicated to Faculty wellness

I encourage you to take the opportunity to utilize these resources.

The Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and your hospital Department and Division are all available to support anyone experiencing difficulty in this challenging time. Please feel free to reach out to any one of us at any time.

All the best,
