Important Position Statement on Electives
The following message is sent on behalf of Dr. Patricia Houston, Vice Dean, Medical Education and Dr. Glen Bandiera, Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education
The attached statement from the Ontario UG and PG Deans has been approved by all 6 Ontario medical school Deans. It reinforces previous directives around inappropriate clinical experiences for medical students and clarifies expectations around the role of electives in selection to residency.
The statement addresses significant risk for hospitals and the university and we encourage you to share this broadly with all physician groups who may be called upon to facilitate clinical experiences for students.
